After 12 years in the butchery and fish industry including working at shops in Australia, New Zealand and Canada whilst on working holidays, I decided to go full circle and take over from my father in the same shop (albeit smaller) that I did my apprenticeship in after leaving school. So in 2012 Camerons butchers was born.
After 4 years of trading in 2016 we opened our largest store. (pictured left). moving down the high street was an obvious choice for us due to a rapid increase of online/website sales and needing to carry more stock in the busier periods, so we installed a 30 metre square walk in chiller and increased the cutting area by four times.
Also after a long wait we were extremely proud to receive delivery of the very first of their kind meat counters from Italy that we feel gives the shop a very modern edge in an industry thats seeing a huge decline in emerging retail butchers shops.

After a year of trading, in 2013 we had the opportunity to expand into a small shop in the village of newnham on severn.
Moving into such a small shop meant we had to make the most of the space we had, but with all the prep work being done at our Cinderford store including making sausages, curing bacon and breaking down all our whole carcasses this wasn't a problem and our Newnham store continues to be a thriving little butchers shop that owes much to the loyal customers that can often be seen forming cues most days, and of course Mike without which the Newnham shop couldn't have been possible.
This shop is located at : Shop Unit 1, Central House High Street, Newnham GL14 1AB
When we made the move down the street with the Cinderford butchers store we were adamant the old shop where it all began wasn't going to turn into another takeaway shop, the idea was to turn it into a wet fish/seafood outlet and bring with it our already huge range of locally sourced game meats including wild boar, venison, rabbit and all game birds to create "Camerons fish and game".
Our passion has always been sourcing locally reared and slaughtered livestock, and I feel game meat is as natural and free range as it gets.
We also stock a large range of exotic meats especially in the summer months where there isn't such an abundance of game where the exotics serve as a good replacement on the barbecue.
This shop is located at : 9 High Street Cinderford GL14 2SQ
Our aim for the future of Camerons butchers is to be able to offer the whole of the forest of dean the chance to patronise local forest farmers and producers in an age where the farmers are getting a rough deal and the public are forced to use supermarkets as they are so convenient and often the only choice. We want to make it easier for consumers to "buy local" we are always looking to expand and could well be in a town near you soon.
